Got our 1st Camera today. I have been thinking which would be the best handheld configuration for the Red and came up with this solution.
You can slide it right off the shoulder support and slide right onto your tripod if your using Arri style dovetails. No need to break down anything and overall the weight of the rig with what you see pictured and the 18-50 zoom are 37 pounds but the weight is evenly distributed. Not front or rear heavy.

Nice rig! Is that a Sony BP100 on the back of the RED? How did it work with the RED?

No that is a switronix 90 Li-Ion Battery in V-Mount. It powered up no problem but I did not check how long it would last for since I just got the camera today. I will be using Anton Bauer mount since that is what most of my batteries are. I had a couple of DP's in today and I let them get a feel of this configuration for feedback and they both said it felt very comfortable. The only thing is I will be using a longer arm for the LCD since there is not enough length to put it where you want. Other than that, pretty simple set-up.

I know. There are definately more than enough types of cameras out there than you can ever collect.

Not at all. I actually slid the camera a little forward so you could see the RED logo in the picture. Also there is an Arri MB20II 4 stage Matte-Box on there (from the group buy, thanks). Put a Red Drive in the cradle and use a lightweight LMB-5 or Chrosziel clip-on will shave about 2 pounds from the front and add it to the rear.

Yea, he will do anything to pose with a RED. Now he looks like a DP.

I would recommend lowering the profile of the battery so that it is at or better still below the horizontal center of gravity of the camera, it should make the setup even more stable on the shoulder.

Sounds good. I can do that. It was a quick put together but works really well. I saw the pictures of the element technica handheld solution and I think mine is easier to assemble/disassemble and going from tripod to handheld is a breeze. Mounting the battery at a different location would be the operators preference.

That kind of looks like a Cinetech rig....or is it custom?

Yes it is. I have been using this shoulder support for about 10 years now and it has never failed. Pretty solid. We had a shoot this weekend with this rig and I think they took some pictures. I will post some as soon as I can. By the way, I used the Arri FF2 and an Arri MB19 with a Zeiss Superspeed and I was able to knock off about 4 pounds from the 37 pounds we originally weighed at. 33 pounds is not that bad and that is with a studio style configuration.
