Each reservation holder #1-1475 will receive a one time allowance of $2500. This amount will be deducted from the total invoice for RED ONE camera and accessories on the initial order. $2500 will apply to each serial number for those that have multiple reservations.

For example, if you buy a RED ONE for $17,500 and say $6,500 worth of accessories... the total would be $24,000 minus $2,500 = $21,500.

Thanks to all for your support. We will see you at NAB.

Michael Hastings

It seems pretty clear to me - for $17500 you get the red one body and your choice of $2500 of accessories - so you get the LCD at $1700 and the RED 320 raid for $900 so you gotta kick in an extra $100 i.e. total of $17600 gets you red body, LCD, and 320 red raid - borrow or steal a PL mount lens, grab your script, and you can shoot your movie! So the RED reservation got you your place in line and a 15% per cent discount.

No it is a RAM disk. At 64GB figure it is the same as eight 8GB P2 cards for an HVX200 which are $1299 apiece at B&H, so compare $10392 mail order price for a completely proprietary solution - to $4500 for the Red solution which it appears internally is just a standard SATA interface flash drive.

Can't see why other Vmount batteries shouldn't work. As long as they can deliver the Amp's that the system draws.

You could use other V lock batteries. It is a standard format V plate...

Michael Hastings
03-12-2007, 06:03 PM
No, I didn't forget power - I - like many of the people here who already own gear - have Anton Bauer and NP1 style lithium batteries and chargers which should be very easy to adapt. The RED batteries are reasonably priced so if you don't have power get the RED or if you are really on a budget (or are going to use it in an underwater housing, as I will also be doing) then I am sure there is a 4 pin XLR or some more modern version of an external DC connector and you can simply hook that up to any 12 volt source.

There looks to be a formatting error (in IE6) on prices for RED ONE BASIC & PREMIUM PRODUCTION PACKS....see attached screen shot....just trying to keep the brand looking good.....also DIGITAL MEDIA OPTION sections are a bit hard to differentiate.

We intend to offer a wide slection of media recording options, ranging from maximum economy - represented by RED-DRIVE at 320GB for under $1,000, up through maximum performance - represented by RED-RAM.

RED-RAM is a special version of the RED-DRIVE chassis that has two 32GB flash memory modules instead of hard disk drives. This arrangement offers outstanding resiliance against extremes of temperature and vibration, and a very high maximum data transfer rate.

go it - so, same frame rates, just faster transfer - more rugged (and most likely, longer lifespan) ??

does ANY solid state option give me higher frame rates than the RED-DRIVE (60p REDCODE & 120p REDCODE 2K windowed)?

Mmm... Good question! My guess is this is one of the NAB "surprises"... :) I think we shouldn't expect a clear answer about that question before NAB. But I think Stuart wouldn't mention (hint?) "very high maximum data transfer rate" if this did not clearly provide some sort of advantage

BTW, did anyone notice the lenses that are shown on the prices list's pictures! Looks like "Red Primes" don't they? I'm willing to bet another of those "NAB surprises" is gonna be a nice set of (very fast) Primes :)

Even though I don't currently have the resources available to have put in a reservation, I wanted to say thanks again to the Red Team for sticking as close to their initial price point as possible. Also, thanks for the changes that have been made since last years specs... obvious improvements in many areas.

Of course, I would love to own a Red One camera, but let's not forget that rental prices will be incredibly affordable too for this type of quality film making, as that will be my only path early on.

One question which may have been already asked... I did not see any lenses on the new price list. Are the older prices still holding?

RED 300MM f2.8 LENS $4995?
RED 18-85MM f2.8 ZOOM LENS $9,500?

And are there any other lenses that need to be added to the list?

Martin Ludwig

We will post the price list on www.red.com about 5pm PST today. All reservation holders from 1-1460 will receive a one time "reservation allowance" to be used when purchasing accessories for the RED ONE camera. This "allowance" amount will be deducted from the total purchased package price.

Jim

Does that mean for those reservation holders, holding more than one reservation 2.500 USD for each reserved camera, if they buy accessories for each ?

Alexander Nikishin

That means that you get $2,500 off the purchase price for each camera you purchase. This discount it seems is only valid towrds accessories purchases.

If you plan on buying no accessories, I'd imagine there being no allowance.
