Okay, Apple is about to announce new MacBook Pros (tomorrow :-). I would like to know if, for a same graphics card, it has more ram, does it increase it's performances significantly. In the present models, there are two 15" with the same graphics card (NVIDIA 8600M GT), except one has 128MB ram and the other has 256MB ram. Does that make a significant difference in RedCine RedAlert, and while I'm at it, in FCP and Motion ?

Cheers,
Damien

FROM APPLE INSIDER

'Among the enhancements expected as part of the impending release are processor upgrades to Intel's recently introduced 45-nanometer "Penryn" Core 2 Duo processors at speeds of up to 2.6GHz and the addition of multi-touch trackpads across the entire product line."

So I take it that is 4x processors in a laptop? Sweet.... and about time too!

I don't see what makes you think we'll have 4 processors in a laptop, and I don't think we'll see that, yet.

Back to my question, anyone know if more ram on a same model graphics card increases performance significantly, for video rendering with Redcine Redalert, FCP or Motion ? Or does it serve mainly to run bigger secondary monitors ?

Cheers,
Damien
