Jim is this B4 mount the abakus or one of your own design. Please give me some info on this as I know I am interested and Gibby will be right behind me!

Thanks,
Jay

$3500 is the listprice of the Abakus 132 B4 to PL optical adaptor.

Any word on why RED's B4 adapter is 700% the price of the other adapters?

The other adapters contain no optics.
The B4 adaptor has elements to correct for the missing prism in a PL mount camera

There is probably a fee to pay to Sony for their patent that adds to the price as well.

I have no knowledge of exactly what their adapter is, but my guess is that it is either: 1) An Abakus branded as such 2) A re-branded Abakus since RED was testing one and reported good results

With all the massive engineering RED has had to do in the past 15 months, that would be the easiest way to enable B4 2/3" lens use on RED. Either way, it still wouldn't stop RED from engineering their own B4 adaptor at a future date. Then again, maybe this is their own engineered B4 adaptor, and they somehow found the R&D time to pull it off already. Either way, I'm thoroughly stoked that RED has included the option to use B4 2/3" lenses on RED One!

Ours will be a slightly modified Abakus design. Our selling price of $3500 matches theirs... see www.zgc.com

We recommend ours for the RED camera.

Great, seems like a good solution More interestingly: Any news you can share on how exactly you change between the PL and the Nikon/Canon mounts?
I know we have come a long way since those hex bolts on the old renders....
