Is RED supposed to make a GPI trigger?

On-Event: On record, the capture frame rate starts out at the Frame Rate, and the start of the transition to the End Rate occurs only when an external GPI trigger has been received. (REDONE manual page 28)

This option is only possible with a GPI trigger accessory.

Pat, I'm fairly certain you can do frame ramping without an external trigger.

How with the "on event" mode?

Thanks.

I think I see what you're getting at... you want to record at a certain frame rate then when your ready have it do the frame ramp. If thats the case then yes, it looks like you will need to have a gpi trigger... luckily we're going to start shipping ours in a few weeks. Have a look at the record start/stop thread in the accessories forum. The button we are making will also work as a gpi trigger for single frame capturing, on-event gpi trigger, and as an external record button.

Thanks,

I do remember this thread and asked you if your going to put a second button for Trigger...

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=153630&postcount=6

So it seams that you developped only 1 button? But it can be switched to either for RECORD or for Trigger.

How do you switch from one postion to the other? By plugging it in diferent ways?

Thanks.

The GPI input is programmable in the SETUP menu. It can either be used for record, single frame record or event triggers.

Stuart,

it would be great if this functionality (single frame record/event trigger) could be assigned to the user buttons.

Is this what we need to sync to the shutter? In case of strobe and rolling shutter artifacts?

The GPI input is programmable in the SETUP menu. It can either be used for record, single frame record or event triggers.

So let me get this right.

I can set the GPIO button for the "side" record button?, or is it one of the two side black buttons?

And if this can be done can I say: start the camera and run at 24fps then press appropriate button and the camera will ramp to my assigned end frame rate?

I would be very happy if this could be done. If you DO need an external GPI trigger...where can I get one? Does RED or another third party make one that will work with the camera?

Thanks
