I transcoded some footage into apple prores HQ and when I bring it into final cut it says that the file was no optimized for final cut and I would need to re-render to do that. Is Prores HQ 2k or 1080? Or is it just an amount of compression and could be applied to any resolution? Anyone dealt with this issue?

I've not seen that error when importing Red footage, but I have seen it before. I tend to ignore it but I've never had to do massive renders from it.

Though in my FCS here I have a TON of ProRes formats. HQ (and non-HQ) comes in 960 X 720, 1280 X 1080, 1440 X 1080, 1920 X 1080. 24p, 25p, 30p, 50p, 60p in each of those resolutions.

What settings are you using and what are you exporting with/from?

You may be seeing that warning if your frame rate is 24 instead of 23.98. You may also see that warning if the rendered ProRes is a 'funny' size (same as the proxies?) as opposed to a normal video size. I ignore the error as well.
