so i'm running 2 identical hardware setups:

mac pro 2.8 ghz intel 8 core
leopard 10.5.2
factory ati video card

the only difference is software:
the mac running quicktime 7.4 runs redcine perfectly fine. no crashes and fast rendering.

the mac running quicktime 7.3 (i downgraded from 7.4 because it started freezing) won't run redcine for more than 30 seconds without freezing up everytime.

how's that for a switcharoo?

i've run the redcine reset app and still no good.

the clips seem fine for the brief time i can view them. i haven't tried messing with proxies yet but i might have to if this can't be fixed right away. any ideas?

upon trying redalert some more, i cannot seem to crash it now. redcine doesn't seem to crash quite as fast but still freezes about a minute after launching.

:help: I just got my red today. My new 8 core has QT 7.4.1 installed. I am worried about 7.4 because I was told I should be. Should stick with 7.4 or do I need to down grade.and if so, how do you down grade

i first downloaded the quicktime 7.3 install package from apple and then just dragged into pacifist and installed the older components over the newer quicktime components. it was easy enough and itunes is bugging me for updates now so i know it worked. unfortunately, it didn't make any real difference on one mac.

have you tried it yet with 7.4? it can't hurt to try it. i still haven't downgraded my other mac and i'm running os x 5.2 with quicktime 7.4 on that one with no problems.
