So for the most part RedTrip is a great little script to get that FCP edit into RedCine. First a thanks to its creator. I would have a few questions though...

It seems to work well when the file names from the camera have not been changed. If they are the numbers assigned from the cam it seems to work most of the time. If the file names have been changed then RedCine always give me a 'failed to load construct...' error. I've tried both the 'recognize camera generated filesnames' and several variations on the 'use custom suffix substitution' but no go. When you open that xml is just has virtually no data in it.

When using camera original filenames it works mostly. I'm answering YES to 'do you want to transfer handles?' as I want only the edits to generate DPX files. Usually they even come in in order but sometimes not.
After generating the only thing the terminal gives is a bash window and a box that says "can't make window into type reference." I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

This workflow will almost work for my purposes thus far ....any ideas and thoughts on RedTrip and this workflow?

Editblog,
RedTrip is actually looking at your filesystem and detecting present R3D files. If a file is not Found, it will pass over it. That would be my first suggestion. Earlier versions just transformed the FCP to Redcine Xml, but I have very little way of determining which files are Redcode and which are not. Since most people mix it up a little bit, I needed to do it this way.

Otherwise please take the RedTrip challenge, outlined at the end of this post:

I'll take some time on Sunday to see if I can debug it, but trust me when I say, this will all be a mute point soon.

Thanks Ian.

I can't wait for this to become mute.... if it wasn't for this crazy post production then we would be good to go! PM me if you want someone to beta test :innocent:

I'm sure you've got quite a few but thought I'd throw that out there... thanks for all the work.
