I can't find an adapter cable from the RED Lemo to the connector (hirose?) on the end of my Canon HD lens?
Will I have to get this made?

I would guess that RED will eventually be making, or have a subcontracted cable manufacturer make the 12v/RS232 to hirose cables. I am currently beta testing some RED-supplied cables for exactly that. When they are finalized, the cables, when connected to the 12v/RS232 bus on RED ONE will: power the HD zoom servo motors for full power zoom capability, power the record button function, and possibly power other functions on certain lenses (replay video, etc.).

The B4 2/3" HD EFP/ENG zooms I am using are: Fujinon 22x7.3 and 13x4.5. I don't believe your Canon HD zoom would use the exact same hirose connector on the lens end of the from-camera cable, but I would guess a different hirose connector may do the trick for Canon lenses. If different cables are needed for Fujinon and Canon, my guess is that either RED or a contracted third party cable manufacturer will make both kinds.

BTW TJ: when testing out the B4 2/3" HD zooms on my RED cameras, I've had full EFP setups of the camera, including the lens, RED EVF, RED Drive, etc. - full-on EFP-style form factor and setup. All footage has obviously been in 2k. Results have been very good - especially 2k/75fps slow motion sequences of sports and nature.

Gibby, I assume the cable you are testing goes from the HRS12 cable coming from the lens to the port on the RED, correct? As opposed to a cable that plugs into one of the accessory ports on the base of the lens servo. If I am correct than the cable should work for Fujinon, Canon, Angenieux, etc. with no problem as this is a universal protocol connection.

Well the output on the camera body would support any lens you installed so that makes sense. Nice that one adapter cable would work for all lenses!

I hope you post some of that stuff Gibby. The reassurance that the 2K stuff looks good is a big deal as I plan to use the camera a lot in 2K

Yes, the cable I'm testing connects to the 12v/RS232 bus on RED ONE, and on the other end connects to the HRS12 cable coming from the lens. Good to know it is a universal protocol that will work with all manufacturers lenses. I suspected that, but didn't want to state it unless I was sure. Right now I only have Fujinon lenses to test it with. I've also used Canon EFP zooms widely in the past, but I don't currently have one to test out with this setup.

I've shot lots of 4k, 3k, and 2k. The 2k stuff I've shot was using three different lens types: 35mm cine, 35mm still, B4 2/3" HD EFP/ENG zooms. Lenses used to shoot 2k were: 35mm cine (Optimo 24-290, RED 18-50, RED 300), 35mm still (Canon FD 150-600), and B4 (Fujinon 22x7.3 and 13x4.5).

I don't have any full resolution footage of 2k from B4 lenses posted, but the new Mammoth HD RED Library features several sequences of my 2k footage shot with B4 lenses. (Their library also has tons of my 4k footage shot with 35mm cine and 35mm still lenses). Throughout their library, wherever you see an "SG" in the clip name sequence, I shot that sequence. If you click on a clip, the full info data on the clip comes up on the next page. Here's a compilation of links to clips on the MHD RED library that I shot in 2k/75fps on RED using a Fujinon 22x7.3 EFP/ENG zoom. I realize these are down resolution QT, but trust me, If they didn't look real good in 2k they wouldn't be offered for stock footage licensing:

Bottom line: I'm very happy with how the B4 footage looks in 2k. My clients and stock footage representative are also very happy with it.

I have made and shipped a few of these cables already for Fujinon. 12P HRS to Lens / 232 port, 10P LEMO
supplies Power for the Zoom, Rec S/S and last clip playback.
