AUDIO ONLY SOLUTION (aka RED SOUND)

Has RED announced any news regarding audio extraction and conforming SOFTWARE. Something similar to RED ALERT. A quick and easy file extractor that would allow offsite back up of RED recorded sound.

For anyone shooting single system with the camera I am wondering if it will be easy to export audio to OMF for mixes, etc.

Maybe Apple Logic or Protols could extract the tracks in the future.


The old saying:

I am I the only person who thinks that there sound be a dedicated piece of audio software with RED.

It only makes sense that we could get the same functionality out of the audio side of the camera as we do from the picture side.

Not every production is going to record double system so it might be a handy little app.

RED has lagged pretty far behind on the audio side of things and it should be more than an "after thought".

That said. I think that both these replies are very funny!

I suggested this a while back. Very often in documentary work you only need to record the audio for an interview. or you only really need to record picture for a short time.

I agree that it would be nice to have an audio only record mode, turning the RED into a four track audio recorder.

I think that it would be difficult to do this as the audio is embedded in the r3d file. This means that in order to record audio you would also have to record an r3d, which means this is a feature that may never be enabled.

I don't know of any camera that can do this, can you think of one? I mean after all this is primarily a camera.
