Control Surface

How necessary is a control surface, like JL Cooper, vs. using a keyboard and mouse?

I have used a mouse with other color correction software and I did not like it. I was not aware of the keyboard shortcuts, so I am not sure how well it would have worked.

With SCRATCH, do you have the fine control you want with a keyboard or mouse? Does adding a control surface make it that much easier?

I would say the surface is a must have, but the tablet is actually really important with Scratch as well.
