I so far only have experience of 19mm bars made by Arri how do Reds compare. Also on this forum i have heard people talking about bars made by ET what is so special about these. I will be getting 18" red bars as part of the production pack but also want to get 12" and 24" who should i go to for these.

The ET Ultra rods are the rods of the gods! No comparison!

Echoing Evin, I frickin' love the ET rods. Just got a second set of 12" rods for the top, and I'm rockin' 18" 15mm rods on the ET baseplate to support the lens. The Red rods feel like they're made out of solid lead; the ET rods are featherweight in comparison.

I will second the ET rods thing. I took some to a rental house today and the techs were SHOCKED at them. I kept handing them to people without telling them what they were like.

Light, Strong and Cheap. Choose all 3. Wait is that how it goes ? This time it's true.

I've been using the 18" Ultra Rods from ET to support my cooke 18-90 and MB 14 6x6. Both the lens and MB are very heavy and the really light ultra rods handle it all no problem. This choice is a no brainer.

I'm honestly loving my carbon fiber rods.

Been using CF for years now and it's always treated me well.

I think most first-time users are suprised at how heavy a fully-loaded camera is. Steel rods are extra weight you don't need. I strongly recommend ET's rods - I got all 24, 18, and 12". and no $$$$ issues.

Another vote for the ET rods. Awesome. I've got both 15mm and 19mm setups and the huge difference in weight between the steel rods and ET's rods are most welcome!

Got all of them. Still waiting for a lens support but even without the lens, I can tell these things are tough, light, and look kind of cool (Can a rod look cool?). Seriously, so far I've been impressed with the build quality.

One piece of advice - blow out the rods with some air. Otherwise you might have some residue falling onto the camera. Look inside, you'll see what I mean. Probably never be an issue, but as a precaution.
