Im considering using RED ONE for an upcoming shoot; shots for winter & summer weather. I understand the backlog in orders due to development and have come to the conclusion i would not have a new camera within the next few weeks; leaving the option to rent.
A question to members with experience- If i place my order within the next few weeks, how long until I could see some activity? Says they're shipping #750-1000- Any predictions on timeframes? Would accessories effect my order build time?

You'll probably see the light of day in late May or June. Possibly even longer than that. They're up to 3200 reservations and beyond. As far as accessories go I can see them having everything squared away in a few months, unless a particular shipping group has ordered a substantial amount of right handles....
I say order it. Better now than later, you want to get your hands on one as soon as possible.

this is a question I have too. I got a project starting probably next winter and I am proposing the funders to do it on the red one. But I cant put an order in until I know for sure the project will go through.
But for example if I order this spring it should be feasible to receive it in time for testing and etc for starting a shoot in december?
I see they started 750-1000, seems to be picking up pace. very exciting.
I am ready to join the revolt. whehe
great forum btw I look forward to using it more.
cheers

Next few weeks?
I've been waiting a little over a year since I purchased my REDS. Not that I'm complaining or anything.
Things have picked up a bit, and I doubt the wonderful team at Red are getting any sufficient amount of sleep while they get things sent out as quickly as humanly possible with the resources that they have. . . though I think you'd have to wait a bit longer than a couple of weeks. Maybe a couple of months to be more fair.
Anyone got any idea the numbers of orders they have so far?
Have they gotten past the 3000 mark yet?

Agreed.
I'd opt to order it too if I were in your shoes.
Even though you might have to wait a little before you get your Red, I'd get my reservation in ASAP.
The wait is going to be most definitely worth it:biggrin:
Honestly though, it's not that bad.
If you want to see what REAL waiting for something is like, try ordering the Micro Matte-Box from Redrock Micro.
Now that's what I call waiting.

I ordered in January 2008 and my Red is #3166.
