you could use this aja:

http://www.aja.com/html/products_converters_HD10MD3.html

and this wireless:

http://www.lentequip.com/products/canatrans.html

and for handheld monitors, i would go with the one made by hamlet in L.A.
not sure of his website, but his company is HPVDO. Great product.

That should get you sorted. Just keep in mind, if you want to transmit FROM the RED camera itself, you will need a special cable to power up the transmitter. Apparently, this cable can cause damage if plugged in the wrong way....

Don't forget the 15% tax on performance introduced with Murphy's law since you're exposing your gear to a film set. This tax applies on both ends (emitter and receiver)... so 30 feet becomes more like 20... when you have line of sight. ;)

I have worked with Skipdivils wireless video assist system and it is really great. Directors love it.

The handheld/wireless monitor is made by www.hpvdo.com . Their website shows why flash technology should only be used by trained designers, but if you can fight your way through it, they make nice products.

I think that's the sensible thing. It less equip that has to be taped onto the camera.

Is it me or the briefcase system by HPVDO is what they used as prop on Aliens (2) for the remote turret gun control?

FYi for those considering wireless solutions that use Wifi or similar tech; there is a latency (delay) inherent in this type of transmission that is up to a frame in duration, which makes it all but unusable for video assist purposes when dialogue is involved. Yes, you can delay the audio to the director to match picture but it can be unmanageable if video village is within earshot of the actors, very distracting.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as wifi HD-SDI?

http://the-boxx.tv/ has a mpeg2 wifi link with HD-SDI input.
The transmission is downconverted to 576p or 480p though, and it's not cheap.

I've got an early model of the-boxx (but without the SDI option, only composite input), quality is excellent.

In some situations, the 0.5 second delay can be an issue, but if you can deal with it, it's fantastic.

I'm lucky, I bought it 2 years ago when they started, back then it costed nearly half the price it costs now .

I told them they should have a look at Red. Let's hope they will...
