Red in American Cinematographer. When?

i've just re started my subscription to American Cinematographer and so have not read the last few editions. has anyone read about the Red in this publication. i so far have seen nothing and this seems odd.

It's been in a few times... most notable was a multi-page article on RED. The editors occasionally do a strange thing over there... sometimes featuring equipment that's several years old and calling it "new." Hell, just think of the coverage the LWZ has gotten lately. They've been pretty on top of RED in comparison.

Most magazines cater to gadgets their readers care about. Most videographers own Sony and Panasonic cameras. The latest hit is Sony Ex1, which reportedly are flying off the shelves at $6500 for a complete camera including 1080p/24p, 14x HD lens, EVF, HD LCD monitor, Microphones, speakers, SxS Recording Media, clip viewing software and carrying case.
Sony's Goal, reportedly, is to sell 1 million of these in the first year.

Not sure what your post has to do with the original question at all, unless it's somehow to imply that the readers of AC have no interest in Red. In which case, as a reader, I would have to say you couldn't be more wrong.

Brook is there any chance of finding out which issue that article was in i would love to read it. Just got the March edition today and there is a full page ad for the Cooke Red set of lenses.

AC had an article under the "new products and services" section back in April of 2007,

Next time you can expect to see RED ONE in an article is probably when they do a story on a movie shot all (or maybe even partially) on the RED ONE. Perhaps we will see an article on either "Guerrilla" or "The Argentine" soon.

I wrote a couple of pieces on Red so far for AC. At this point it's waiting for a major project to come down the pipe to report on. Maybe the Argentine or Wanted. If you know of any other major Hollywood features on the horizon shooting Red shoot me a PM.
