when will non-reservation holders be able to purchase RED One and will they have to pay for the full package up front, despite not being able to receive a red one until sometime later this year? because 30,000 is a big investment when you won't be able to take advantage of it for several months. Thank you.

You will be able to place firm orders at NAB. They will be available after all reservations have shipped. I expect that you will not have to pay until the camera is delivered, though there may be a holding deposit.

I wouldn't mind putting down a deposit, similiar to those who had reserved the Red's when reservations were available. I'm just curious how Red will accomodate those whose interest peaked post-reservations without making them pay the full 30,000 months in advance.

Just refreshing this thread to see if anyone has any info on this. Thanks.

It has been decided that no more RED cameras will be sold beyond the 1,450 already reserverd. Instead they will be moving onto their next project.
A washing machine that can wash, dry, press and fold all clothes in a city block at once using one teaspoon of laundry detergent.
Fabric softner will be a later option one can purchase, but all reservation holders will get a credit towards that as well.

Jim answered this on 3/13/2007, on another thread, "purchasing at NAB"
....
You can place an order at NAB with a fully refundable deposit.

And there will be other on ebay this year, I'm shure. Don't missunderstand me, it is not because the REDone will not fullfill the promisses, but some of the REDusers will change there opinions and change over to there domestic technique. Because RED could disapoint if somebody shoot the first time with a 35mm-Camera. Out of focus, out of money, out of hope.

I'm putting a RedOne body up for sale (#728) sometime after NAB. I just haven't figured out where I'm going to post it for sale, or what kind of payment method to use. I guess most people use ebay and paypal for that sort of thing, but they have a cumulative charge of 4% (1.5% + 2.5%) against the sale price, which is sort of steep when you consider the amount of money involved - I'd likely have to charge an extra $1000 just to cover their cut.

Okay, so what are the options available to people who cannot realistically attend NAB? It's by no means in my backyard. My question remains -- when will people who didn't make the original reservations (or were able to attend NAB) actually be able to reserve a RED? I acknowledge that there will be items populating on ebay in the next year, but I definitely wouldn't gamble purchasing a 30,000 dollar item off of ebay. Any honest info would be appreciated.

Tallsided, I am sure the good people at RED will accept reservations by email as they have before. NAB is just a natural time for them to reopen reservations. Good luck!
