Ok!!! so Recine...
can the quicktime files that come straight off the camera be played on a PC?
I hear people have been editing with them on Macs...
Can the R3D files be exported to something that can be edited in Premiere without the RED render bar? (AVI)
Has anyone tried editing with Premiere Pro CS3 on a mac?
thanks....

PC is not well supported at this time. 3rd party vendors that have such support have been "asked" to hold off on offering any such support at this time.
This ban on PC support from 3rd parties will end on or around NAB

Yes, you can pull proxies into Pr CS3 on a mac and edit. The last time I tried, there was a shift in color/gamma on the right 1/3rd of the preview window when working with proxies. It would be fine though as long as you were planning on exporting final files from Redcine though. You could just use Redcine and export to the codec of your choice for use in CS3 (quicktime) and then edit away.

Mike,
CineForm's HDLink will re-wrap the MOV to AVI files. Contact David Taylor @CF and he will give you more details in addition to the information on their website.
