Just went by Ugrip today to fit some accessories, especially getting a working handheld solution for the ET 19mm system. The RedRail didn't fit the bill unfortunately.

Here is what we came up with:

With RED cradle. Balances like a dream on the shoulder. Has a large amount of inertia.

With Ugrip FS-1 cradle. Also balances well, but your shoulder will be positioned further forward.

The foam shoulder pads are my own design. Two water curt foam pads with velcro on the top side. They have a tight fit in the arri dovetail and can be be removed with a firm twist, and can be adjusted back and forth.
Contact me if anyone is interested...they fit the ET 15mm and 19mm bridges.

Their firestore FS-1 cradle works great with the RedDrive:

I will use this with my steadicam setup...just need my angled power cables and I can ditch the battery...

Check out their system at www.ugrip.dk (http://ugrip.dk/gallery_31.html)

That's great Anders. The foam pad -is that on an aluminum plate, or is it all foam and just cut to fit in the dovetail "slot"?

Cheers,
Dale

No plate. They fit in the dovetail slot and the back one is secured with a square piece of velcro.
The top of the foam has a thicker more solid plastic surface that makes the top rigid.

Wow Anders Bravo what an amazing show reel. Thanks for the ugrip link. Can you talk a bit about the way you deal with Focus in those situations? What sort of systems you use and recomend for remote work or how are you doing what you do so well?

Thanks,

Dog-Day.

For wireless single channel work (Focus only) I use my Bartech/M-one combo. If more channels are needed I use a Preston FIZ.

Looks awesome Anders....So that Firestore cradle is already on the market and fits the RED Drive or is it being retrofitted to do so?

The current firestore cradle fits the Reddrive perfectly. I will experiment with adding rubber cushioning to the sides to add some shock absorption, but the current one works great. Did preliminary shock testing with no dropouts.

The microport receiver cradle is also very nice and adjustable. and fits the Audio limit perfectly.

And the best thing is that all parts have both 1/4" and 3/8" holes for easy mounting on the RED.

Abel sells the UGrip stuff here in the US. It's very well made and versatile.

Ugrip's Pearl "Basic" for US $ 869.00 $ looks very promising.

That looks great. I have a ugrip setup which I use on DVX, works like nothing else. I was very much wondering how well the ugrip stuff would fit the Red I'm expecting very soon. It looks like a winner.

The Ugrip stuff is beautifully made and to do a simply what so many other systems make very complicated.

Anders, thanks for the pictures and for bringing the Ugrip back into the discussion. Your timing is perfect. I was in need of a Red drive solution sans the Red drive/battery cradle.

Mitch, I look forward to seeing prices on here when things get settled with red user and AbelCine on the subject.

off topic-- Hey Billymc, I got your email, I will hit you back tonight. Thanks Billy.

For whatever reasons its not working or going through with PM so if you can recap here it would be very helpful...

Anders - any idea how much the firestore expands out to allow shock absorbing material?
Looking at Ugrip's website it's a bit difficult to see how parts adjust. Also, are the 90 degree handles strong enough to be angled and take the weight of a heavier red setup?

There are two adjustments at either side: The thumb screws and the Hex screws securing the slide mounts. This allows for a wide adjustment range. I believe you could get around 1cm of padding at either side with the REDDrive. I can test tomorrow.

What's great about this system is that all their products consistes of standard pieces. The firestore cradle, it the two standard side parts and two standard plates. In the future you can exchange the plates with longer or shorter plates and keep the sides. Or you can keep the plates and use different side pieces Like this:

Absolutely if you mean in a configuration like this:

If you want to use them as a topmount - maybe. They also make a 90° handle peice which is solid.
