Today we shot all day with one channel of audio, and suddenly on the last few setups we kept getting "Error: Failure to Record Audio" or something to that effect. The recording would stop, the camera would freeze, and there would be no audio or quicktime proxies, only a truncated R3D file.

We were using a 442 mixer with line in to the RED. RED Drive. Build 14. No issues all day and then bam, 4 errors in a row. We had to shoot the last few scenes MOS just to wrap. :waaa: We have 4 more days of shooting with heavy dialog and would like to solve this riddle.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue?

No one chimed in! But I spoke with RED today and apparently the issue is specific to RED drives. So if anyone else has this issue, just use CF cards. I will be doing so today and will post back if I have issues.

So RED is able to reproduce the problem and they're working on a fix?

They were trying to reproduce it, but I don't think they succeeded. However, they have been getting reports from owners so they are looking into it.

I ascertained today that it is was just one of my red drives that exhibited the problem-- the other red drive worked fine. So maybe it's a faulty drive issue and not something that can be fixed with firmware?
