Holy shit, this camera is awesome! Just shot some footage and I can't believe how good it looks. Just for run and gun stuff too! HOLY SHIT! Seriously, it's worth the wait guys. By the time all the later reservation holders get their camera it will only get better. I'm amazed.

Good job RED team, this is some sick shit!

I love this camera so much I feel like I'm wasting time sitting here typing this post! This is just one still that I shot, plus a pic of my setup, more are to come in the footage section!

That's cool and all, but why doesn't the person pictured have on Oakleys? That's some bullsh$t. :ranting2:

Kidding.

It's funny you say that, the guy was looking at me awkwardly as I pointed what must have looked like a rocket launcher at him.

I definitely got some heads turning, which is awesome. This camera is ridiculously intimidating! I LOVE IT!

Hahaha, you photographed some random person on the street with that rig? Hahaha. Yeah, I'm surprised he didn't assault you. Been in similar situations, and people do not like to be filmed...unless of course, it's so they can knowingly make a complete ass of themselves. Anything else, and you take on stalker status - "filmmaker my ass."

Which Sachtler are you using? And, is it perfect?

Thats great, I just put my order in and got my serial.
Extremely excited. Cant wait to get my rocket launcher.

Last year I was using a motion control rig with minicams to film insects and some french people (in france) thought we were drilling for oil or something. hehe

same question from me...which sachtler are you using and how well does it work out for you?

Got new glasses (optical and sunglasses) the other day. Didn't look at the brand, just picked the best ones. Then found out they were Oakleys. Mr Jannard must be affecting my taste.

And to stay on topic, I love this camera too. I was doing some basic focus tests a few day ago, shooting the chillis growing out in the back garden. It's one of the most beautiful things I've shot in ten years, and it was just a focus test.

I'm using a Video 18 SB Eng 2 and haven't had problems at all. Got it from Custom Supply. I don't remember the phone number off the top of my head, but BJ was a very nice guy and actually spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with me figuring out what exactly I needed.

The still I have in the top post doesn't do any justice for what I shot yesterday. It was me just messing around trying to figure out the camera. The Sachtler Tripod held the camera, basic production pack, LCD, arri ff-4, and the monster RED 300mm all in one piece. I want to post some footage but it's a little soft due to the sun blaring into my eyes...

Justin hi,

So basically you're happy with the sachtler 18sb, that's good to know...I probably won't be using the red 300mm with at the beginning, but you never know right?...glad to hear it's working well for you...because...that's the tripod I wanted to buy for my red setup as well...

Great, I've been using the Video 18 for my HVX, and I'm glad I won't have to ditch it when my Red arrives.
