Anyone buy this item from the Red Store?:
http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/80
It is described as a DC Power Cable. I should have paid more attention to the photo.
I guess what I needed was an "extension" power cable... i.e. with a female on one side. I was going to use it with the power supply, which unlike the battery, has a Red power cable already dangling off of it. But it's pretty short. I don't think it would cut the mustard on a dolly...
It's too bad that the power supply does not simply have a Lemo connector like the battery charger does...
I suppose I can have the boys at CSC put a female on the end... and I probably could have had Wes make me one properly... oh well. ;)
Just don't want others to make my mistake.
Cheers,
Harry

I think you are wrong. I consider this to be the cable that fits into the power out port of the battery loader.

According to the battery loader manual, the cable should be included - but it is not. I guess we can expect to get one for free at the point it becomes available...

RED SWAT, correct me if I am wrong...

Cheers,
Axel

Yes, Axel, that's what I was saying... I was wrong. Just did not want others to make my mistake.

DC CABLE comes with the POWER PACK. It does not come with the CHARGER. Some people received an AC POWER ADAPTOR in lieu of DC CABLE when our inventory of DC CABLES was exhausted for awhile. We did not want to stop deliveries of POWER PACKS, so we included the AC POWER ADAPTOR at no additional charge.

So, if you got a POWER PACK with an AC POWER ADAPTOR, you will not get a DC CABLE for free at a later time. You already have the AC POWER ADAPTOR to power the camera off of house power.

Thanks, BC

Actually, I might chime in here and say that we are one of the companies who received the AC Power Adaptor in lieu of the DC Power Cable for the Power Pack.

I'm really glad we did, because we have three more cameras on order and will definitely be buying the AC Power Adaptor for each of them since it makes the battery charger infinitely more useful. In case people aren't aware, the Red Charger is a sequential charger and when powering the camera directly, doesn't charge the batteries at all, so the AC plus Charger combo is a much better on set option to give you maximum flexibility.

Can you have both the battery and the AC connected @ the same time?
Guess not...

Aaaaarghh! I got TWO power adaptors in my delivery and thought there was a mistake made so I was ready to send one back and confirmed with Nate. And now I read that this extra adaptor is actually mine because there was something missing in the package? Do your own people actually know what is being send and what is supposed to be send?

Same here, I reviewed a couple of times when and where I should have ordered two. The last thoughts were:

a) The power adaptor is a standart part for the body, because otherwise you may not be able to switch it on at all...

b) This DC cable is missing and they send it instead.

Now we know b) is right. But if I had knewn before, I'd trade it for the cable. My second power supply is unopened...

Brent, the point is poeple at RED made this descision, and I understand that, but it would have been helpful to talk to people or at least explain why something has been changed.

Further, we all receive those FEDEX message, but no info of what is actually coming. I'd wish next time it'll be less a surprise...

Axel

No. The charger can only charge a battery or power the camera. One or the other, so not at the same time.

The charger can only charge one battery at a time, even though it has mounts for two batteries.

Does anyone make a barrel that would turn the 10 foot dc cord into an extension cord? cause then you could have the battery off camera. I know they make a battery belt pack but I don't really need that, I just need this cable turned around. Any custom cable makers? Anyone?

Hi!

I'm also interested in this. I want to use the 10 feet DC cable as an extension, connecting it to the lemo from the short battery plate cable. Where can I find a lemo adapter that would allow me to join the two cables?

Thanks!

I know its a very old post.

But did anyone out there find a solution to this?

If yes, please let us know.

I had the techs at CSC in New York snip one end off and put a female Lemo on. Worked great. I'm very glad I did it.

Just got a mail with an estimate from David Hable of http://www.crampedattic.com/ and he is quoting 160$ (canadian dollars) for an extension cable. Anyone out there got other estimates? I once read somewhere that http://www.actionproducts.ch/ were making them as well, anyone with that experience?

thanks

David Hable has made a number of cables for me. Great service, great quality, quick turnaround and a price competitive with anything I could find. I highly recommend him and his company.
