Can someone tell me how to jam Timecode on the RED cameras. We tried it on our last shoot and it did not work with build 14. Is there a trick?

Thanks, Mark

you might need to make sure that your source is 23.98

we were able to do it with build 12, but had to reset after every power down

Make sure your timecode input is set to the same frame rate as your Project Frame Rate. In SYSTEM / TIMECODE check the JAM SYNC box. Then make a short recording. You should see a chain link in the UI.

If you power down the camera you will need to re-attach the external timecode source to let the camera re-sync with frame accuracy. But assuming the camera is powered it will maintain sync for an extended period of time even if you remove the timecode source. Note that if you are mixing in a lot of varispeed shots then we'd recommend you attach a local Ambient or Deneke timecode generator to the camera.
