I met up with the geniuses from ET today, and I was very impressed with all of their products and ideas for future accessories for the red camera.
I showed them my Cartoni Gamma head, and they informed me they are working on a dovetail solution specific to Cartoni heads.
Not sure if anyone out there will be using this head rated at 35 lbs but I am planning on sticking with this for documentary style shoots.

Keep in mind that a 35lb red config is pretty easy to reach.

I've got a Gamma. I haven't fully loaded it down yet, but at around 27lbs it's not breaking a sweat yet.
What's the heaviest load you think it'll do smoothly Tonaci? That picture looks like about 35-ish.
I figured if I was renting heavy lenses I'd rent a more expensive tripod at the same time. For my personal use I can rig the camera lighter if needed.

Tonaci is that a gamma or delta head?

Has anybody got any information about the Master? It looks perfect for the Red but I've never seen in mentioned on these boards.

Ed - which delta did you decide on and why the Delta vs. the Miller Arrow. They both seem to be priced around the same and will carry equal loads?

Cartoni's gamma is rated at 35 and the delta is 48 (it's often mis-rated on the i-net).
The miller arrow is not a true continuous step-less counter balance system. Only Cartoni and Oconnor are.
At NAB, the sales Rep at miller had a difficult time counterbalancing the system perfectly. It was like balancing a coin on its edge. If you get it just right, then you're good. But if not... it takes up time. So from what I heard, if you own one, you'll eventually get the hang of it and if you don't change your camera setup often, then i guess it would be no big deal.
But with my delta, just "dial it in" and get perfect counterbalance with no fuss. The Oconnor 1030's dial is partially hidden in the base so it's a bitch to turn and adjust just right. The 2060 has a crank.
I'm curious what element technica will come up with... I'm assuming it works on both the gamma and delta? Not sure what the benefits would be... anyone care to clue me in? Thanks.
