Hi there,
My apologies if this has already been covered, but are there any details on the RAW ports?
Will we be able to get 1080p 4:4:4 via dual HD-SDI?
If so, at what frame rates?
What about 4k?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm not sure what exactly you're asking.
Our RAW port is a optical 10g fiber port to be attached to a RAID system to store lossless 4.5K at max 60 fps or 2K at a 120.
For HD-SDI we have a single-link monitoring port and a dual-link capture / record port which goes up to 1080.
I don't know up to what framerates or sampling the HD-SDI goes, I'll let Stuart answer that one.
Our advice is to record to our flash based systems or the RED-DRIVE (320 GB mini drive) to store 4K up to 30 fps in our visually lossless REDCODE codec.

Hi Rob,
Thanks - sorry the question was a bit vague.
What I'm really asking is if dual HD-SDI 1080 4:4:4 comes standard, or is considered part of the RAW port. I think you've answered that, the RAW port is optical.
If so, is the following correct?
HDSDI (onboard)
1080p60 4:4:4
RAW (optional)
2K 120fps
4K
I have a digital field recorder which does uncompressed 1080p via HDSDI... I think it's being upgraded to 60fps, which is how I want to record the RED for everything but steadicam shots. I have a good workflow and backup solution which generates HD quicktimes for editing. I'm sure Redcine is fine but why not record uncompressed if you can.
I think a few people here are going to be shocked when they find out how much IT infrastructure you need to manage even 1080p footage...

HD-SDI is indeed included in the base camera, don't need to buy anything extra to get that.
I don't know about sampling or framerate of HD-SDI on the camera, not my area of expertise.
With flash or red-drive you go up to:
720p 120 fps
1080p / 2K 60 fps
4K 30 fps
Through the RAW port:
2K 120 fps
4.5K 60 fps

So just to clarify Rob, 2k is windowed (S16mm) only correct?

Why not record 4K if you can? :D
What's the field recorder; I'm searching for a continuity review device and I'd rather not use tape...
