Hello!
I would like to get a quick clarification, if possible... It's about the 15mm adaptor.
What is its true role? Is it to fit directly on the 15mm rods if you go with a 15mm rod system? Is it the direct substitute of the universal adaptor (which is for 19mm systems)?
In other words, can you attach the 15mm adaptor (first pic) to the cradle (last pic) and through it attach the cradle to the top 15mm rods? Bypassing the need of the universal mount (second pic) altogether.
Thanks!

the 15mm adaptor is for mini 15mm spacing NOT regular Arri 15mm spacing ..it is not for use with the Red arri 15mm base plate..
15mm adaptor mounts on a Red universal mount (19mm)..
some have DVX/HVX's and have FF/MB (mini 15mm spacing) . ... they can use their FF/MB on Reds 19mm system by using the Red 15mm adaptor

Thanks for the quick reply.
Then, how do I attach the cradle to a 15mm rod system?
I plan to have 15mm rods (100mm apart) on top of my RED. Obviously I want to be able to attach the cradle to the two rods there. How do I go about it? Is there a solution?

The cradle will need to be attached to the 19mm rods.

Are you serious? No solution to attach it to the 15mm rods?

How exactly will you put 15mm rods on the top. The only way i can think of is to buy ET's 15mm top Mounts http://www.elementtechnica.com/products/view.php?p=4

That's exactly what I have in mind.
But REMEMBER... you can also have bottom 15mm rods, and you can attach the cradle to those bottom rods (to the back of the camera) not only on the top rods.
I am a bit disappointed. The cradle should be able to attach to a 15mm system as well. The 15mm system is more widespread than the 19mm one.
Talk about modularity...

Can one attach the cradle to the top ET cheeseplate?

Looks to me like that would work provided the cheeseplate spacing is the same as the universal mount - which it probably is. You can detach the cradle from the rod mount.
If there was a universal mount for 15mm rods then you could probably screw the cradle into that universal mount.
Personally, I'm not a fan of any of the top mounted setups I've seen. The camera is top heavy to begin with. I set my cradle to hang as low as possible to lower the center of gravity. That also keeps the rear of the camera clear of cables and any other obstruction. Very usable. If the interface wasn't a disaster.
