So, I've been looking for portable power for an LCD that runs on AC. If anyone knows how to, or if it's possible to convert the power source on a Dell monitor to run on DC, let me know. In lieu of that, someone else posted a link to Xantrex portable ac/dc power sources. So my point is, why wouldn't one use something like this

http://www.amazon.com/Xantrex-Powerpack-Jumpstarter-Inverter-Backup/dp/B000E6LEIC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1205348438&sr=8-1

with the AC power adapter as a cheapo block battery? Or make a DC cable with the Red Lemo on one end. I know that it's not as efficient with the inverter, and heavy as sh%@,and takes a day to charge from AC, but it's $120 for 28Ah instead of thousand(s) for something like the AB cine blocks with similar capacity. What am I missing?

Looks very cool! That's exactly what I was thinking of doing for a client/jib monitor.

I believe this is only a 120W/h device, because a review says that if you draw 480W it'll only last 15 minutes. So really it's about the battery power of a red brick.
