View Full Version : Detachable pieces?

Thinking on weight specs and stabilizer weight limitations, is it possible to use the batteries as a detachable piece (as it works with the LCD) or not?
The same for the Red Drive? Or not so reliable for stabilizer use? (And one of the Flash options will be the only one...solution?)

I'm guessing the lcd will be powered by the lemo video connection. So you'd be limited to 3 or 10 feet depending on the cable you chose.
That's my guess anyway, I'd hate to find out that it's powered off of a cable constantly running to the Red Brick.

Don: what is it you're asking exactly? The battery & RED-DRIVE are not directly mounted to the camera (although you can attach it to the camera if you want to) so I guess the answer is yes to your questions?
The flash options will be the only one solution for what?

Rob, how will the lcd be powered?

I honestly don't know.... think it's through the LCD cable, but I could be wrong on that...

There's a foot where we can put the monitor and the batteries, helping the system's weight balance. But I just don't know if there is any chance with your proprietary LCD and batteries. Is it possible?

Thanks.

If I can use my laptop while holding it with one hand and typing with the other, the RED DRIVE can run on a stabilizer. ;)

Yes, I know how stabilizers work. Our battery system is not properiety, it's a V lock mount and obviously you will be able to feed the system power from other sources if needed.
For monitoring there are various HD-SDI & HDMI outputs available besides the electronic viewfinder & LCD. However, the LCD is 5.6" and with our 3 or 10 foot extension cable you could mount that to the sled at the bottom?

Reliability can mean different things. But, a stabilizer smooths out motion so it should be an extremely good place for a RED-DRIVE to work!

I think some operators with their own Red-One will need to custom-wire their sleds if they want to keep the internal cables while using the Red-lcd-monitor, as long as there´s space left on the "donkey"-box / top-stage.
