I'm working on a Helicopter shoot soon that could use a RED ONE.
2 obvious concerns - control & record time.
Have a Red Drive but with only 1m of cable I don't think that will reach the cockpit.
Any thoughts/suggestions from experience?

I'm assuming this is not a gyro stabilized unit like a Wescam? That's what I've used before but we only Had the CF cards so we shot very carefully.
As for a remote release I've used a Photo air release bulb and a custom Preston cabel.

Contact Wes at Panavision Auckland. He can make custom Preston cables and a has a remote start-stop with 20ft extension.
He was developing a Red Drive extension cable but I don't know how far along he is with it.

our GPIO and Lens port trigger/tally operations are fully enabled now.. so remote start stop with feedback is pretty easy to control...
Evin was create because he had to be with the air bubble.. thats another option but im sure he wouldn't do it again :)

Spacecam in LA is now fully compatible with Red. Including recording to a drive.

Going with a naked Libra. I'm thinking we should we cover the RED vents.

Pictorvision fully supports all controls of the Red in our 36" Wescam stabilized systems. It is our system pictured above that Evin used. The day after he left for his shoot, the proper (hard to find) connectors arrived for the control cables, and they were successfully used on two shoots that weekend with no problems.

We have been the first with Red installations ever since the first Red One flew. First with Red One 2D and 3D and first with Epic 2D, 3D. Currently we have two Epics in the air on the latest Spacecam 3D mount on Hobbit in NZ. During the course of working with Red cameras we have developed a line of accessories including remote power on/off, remote record, tally confirmation, hardened sync port connection in the sync bob and sync bob plus as well as the first Leica M mount for the Epic and a line of modified Voigtlander lenses. At present we are introducing a new product every 4 weeks for the Epic/Scarlet. We work and fly with Red everyday.
