Hello all, I've searched trying to find this, and haven't found a definitive answer. Will Redcine be Windows compatible? If so, which version? By quarter 3 of this year, quad core processors will be dirt cheap (http://www.dailytech.com/Aggressive+Intel+Quadcore+Price+Cuts+Before+Barcel ona/article6488.htm) and it would be really nice to have a cheap quad core system to handle my Redcine processes while I'm working on my Mac.
Also, I remember reading somewhere that Redcine will offload some of its tasks to the GPU. If true, would it be beneficial to buy more than one GPU and arrange it in crossfire SLI or some similar setup? The nvidia 8800 line of GPUs are really fast and are just getting better by the moment (as you all are aware). Thanks for any info on this.

Yes, it will be Windows compatible. You may have to search on the Red section over at DVXUser.com before Reduser.net went live. I don't remember seeing Vista discussed, but I'm sure it will be fine there.

I'm not necessarily saying I want it on Vista...maybe later yes...but right now by taking my editing applications and 3d applications into Vista I'm taking about an 80% performance hit. The whole thing that time = money is very important for me so I can't afford an 80% performance hit. Obviously the programs aren't written for Vista so we should see this level out or get better as time goes on. So right now I'm looking at for Redcine conversion, a quad core pc with Xp on it and depending on whether or not the GPU helps more or less, probably atleast 2 8800 nvidia graphics cards.

Yes, it will run on at least Windows XP. Obviously we're also looking at Vista, but development & testing is currently done on XP SP2 as well as OS X 10.4.8.
Just to make it clear again, REDCINE will not run on the PowerPC Mac platform. But other RED tools like REDCODE will.

Thanks for the clarification. Any word on GPU acceleration?

What about the new Macs? REDCINE will run?.

Yes, because they have Intel processors in them.
