Avid (MichaelP) has supplied us with a new EDL template that is a standard CMX3600 template except that it allows tapes names up to 16 characters long. Normal CMX3600 EDLs can only have tapes with a maximum of 8 characters in their names.
So now we can use MetaCheater to put the entire R3D clip's filename into the Tape column of the ALE and then generate EDLs from Avid that don't truncate this filename.
Hope this explanation makes sense.
Please note: Use this template at your own risk, it has not gone through formal testing yet. Also downstream devices will have to tweak their code to support more than 8 character source ID if their code strictly adheres to the CMX 3600 specification.

just drop it into the templates folder in the EDL Manager application's folder.
