Can you use still use the side handles with the 19mm baseplate. I would like to use the cage setup with the baseplate if possible. Has anyone tried this configuration and have picts?

Yes, the rod height is the same.
It's not the exact pic you asked for. but the sidehandle is mounted on the opposite side.

Thanks for the reply.
I must have asked incorrectly though. I guess I should have said the cage. Will the cage attach to the bottom rods while using the base plate?

Never mind. I looked at the picture closer and could just see the attachment of the side handle. Thanks so much. Have you rented your Red much? If so, how much is a Red cam package going for with tripod, mattebox, follow focus, and a couple of lenses. I will recieve mine next month and only have the rental house prices to go by.
Thanks

I was interested to see the Arri plate and the side handles too. Thanks for posting the pic.

Anders, that looks a little front heavy. Doesn't that strain the arms?

Yes that configuration is a little front heavy with the shoulder in that position, not very much though.
Sometimes I do prefer the camera to be a little front heavy as I feel it helps me to not overshoot the headroom.

But If the camera was moved about 2" back on the shoulder it would balance exactly, or you cound use longer rods in the top mount to shift the drive backwards.

Anders,

I really like your drive and battery mounts--this is exactly what I was thinking. Did you make it, have it made or buy it?!!!

Battery mount is the Red quickplate, drive mont is from www.ugrip.dk, I did have a ugrip thread going here in the acessories thred earlier you might want to check that one out.

EDIT: Here http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9673 (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9673)

I am going to make a custom battery mount with a real IDX V-lock plate as the RED type has the locking mechanism made out of plastics and that just suck....(sorry but it does). My U2 steadicam has the IDX made ones and they are rock solid with a metal locking mechanism.
