Are there any 3rd party magnifiers that can be used on the RedPro 7" LCD Monitor to double check the accuracy of focus?

In other words, is there some kind of devise, whether attachable or not, that can help in checking focus on that monitor?

I could use one of those old fashioned loops, used for examining 35mm slides on a lit slide box, but I was just hoping there might be something a little more practical.

Cinema Oxide makes one for Red's 5" monitor, but not the 7". I was just wondering if there was something out there that could theoretically do the same thing.

Thanks.

Hello everybody,

I hope you are all doing well today. :)

If you use the RedPro 7" LCD Monitor on a Scarlet-X Camera, can you see ALL the camera settings and menu options on the monitor screen?

I realize it is not a "touch screen" monitor, but if you use the camera WITHOUT an EVF, can you still see everything you need to see to control the camera's settings and options using the SSD Side Handle, etc.?

Also, is the monitor sharp enough to determine "accurate" focus and depth of field without the use of some kind of magnifier ?

Thanks.

So I hear some people are using old Canon FD lenses on their epics.

What's the deal with these lenses? I look them up and they seem to go for pretty cheap, like $100-200 range. I know you'd also need to buy an adapter or custom mount for them to work with the Epic, but besides that what are some of their pitfalls? I saw some footage shot with the SSC versions and it looked pretty good.

I guess my first question is: am I finding the right lenses when I see they sell for that cheap or am I just stumbling on the more abundant, cheaper version lenses with this mount?

Hi guys,
My friend is editing a short I shot with the Epic in 5K, I transcoded the footage in Adobe Media Encoder Cs6 to prores 1080p, after he finishes offline editing, we should export XML to redcine-x and reconnect the r3d files to color correct.

I did a test of this and all worked so far, but after I color correct in redcine-x, there are a lot of options from redcine-x, which one should I use?

Export (shallow) to Fcp-x xml: this seems to work easily, but the audio gets deleted when I import the XML to fcpx, is that normal? Also, the clips seems to be 5K in fcpx, but Modify RED RAW Settings is disabled, I'm wondering why, are they a copy of r3d files? or transcoded to prores?

Export : there are a lot of options here, such as R3D Trim, Quicktime, and Quicktime Wrapper, which one should I use?

FYI: I want to send the color corrected r3d files back to fcpx, to add titles and export a h264 1080p.

I'm going to shoot a short film in Italy next week.
One of the shots is as close as possible to the water.
I was thinking of putting the camera in a aquarium (small fish tank) but my DOP thinks the reflections are going to ruin the shots.
Anyone had any experience with this?
Thanks
