Hey,

I was looking into getting a couple 2TB 2.5" drives and saw these advertised:

http://www.amazon.com/WD-Green-Mobil...+drive+2tb+2.5

They claim to be a few mm taller than regular 2.5ers and not work in laptops etc. Does anyone know if they will fit in the Red Station Red Mag 2.5" slot and work? Thanks!

Hi there, I know that some of you guys have a lot of experience on the set using different equipment, so I was just wondering what would be the best 17" monitor for studio/field. Panasonic has been holding ground for some time now and you can see them on many set of big budget movies, in the other hand I have heard a lot of good stuff for the Sony OLED, even though people admiting of getting wrong impression on the picture. It would be very helpful to know your experience on set with these two monitors.

I looked into those korean monitors that use the same panel as apple and some other players, but was a little hesitant because they do seem a little shady. If anyone has any experience with those and it's a good one, please share.

I've been on Mac since the late 1980's, and as such, would prefer to continue with this platform. I'm looking for opinions on a Hakintosh build based on this article, http://nofilmschool.com/build-a-hackintosh/ and using the following parts. I would add a RAID array of some type, and eventually a RR card.

I currently edit DSLR and go pro footage on a MacBook and I'm about to start working with Red so it's time for my first workstation! Yeah! I work primarily in Premiere with some after effects, speed grade, photoshop, and illustrator. Most of my projects are commercials for broadcast and web as well as long form documentary. Ideally the setup would be able to be mobile even if that just means getting a pelican for the tower. I've researched components but I'm not comfortable building it myself and my budget for the workstation is only about $5k (not including monitors or accessories). Any recommendations on where I could have my low budget dream machine built? Thanks!

Alright, I'm currently helping build a color suite, just a simple suite for me to put my buddies projects through color correction, but give me the ability to bring in my own clients to color on.

I'm debating whether to spent a significant amount of cash to build a PC based rig (either Win7 or Hackintosh) or to dump some cash into his Mac Pro.

I wish I knew the specifics of the Mac Pro, but I know it has 2x 3ghz Quad core processor, and 12gb of RAM. What I'd do to that is pump up the RAM to 32, I don't know if she'll do 64, but I would do that if I could. Get a GTX 680, or Quadro 4000? Thats the question. And a BlackMagic Decklink for Sdi out for a CC monitor.

It's either that, ore build a PC with some higher specs, but also 2x the $.

Hey Red Team,
I have an idea for all those returned Red Ones.
How about making a desktop film scanner?
Simple, gentle transport that triggers a single frame on the Red each time a frame of film lines up. 35mm, 16mm, regular- and Super-8 transports. Maybe a pin? Maybe another way to steady the frame.
Additional project rates of 16 fps and 18 fps.
Cool daylight LED backlight.
RAW capture and add Redcine-X! Bam. Telecine.
A guy can dream, can't he?
Cheers,

Hey everyone,

My production house has assigned me the task of building a mobile DIT station for our feature documentary. So i've settled on building it around an SKB Studio Flyer 4U.

Right now we have a bunch of G-Tech Drive's we've been using we're afraid that if we mount those inside of the rack it could be problematic while traveling. I'd really like to ensure that there are no compromises due to vibration and shock since this case will spend a lot of time being, rolling on various surfaces and riding in the back of a cargo van.

I've heard of the Sonnet F3 is a good choice especially since it has built in drive isolation and it's already rack-mount-ready. Are there any other options that I should consider? Money is tight, but of course this is still a high priority.
