Ouch...
Not nice.

A film is constructed in post today because editing became possible. Editing could always be replaced by shooting linearly and in order of the shots expected to be in the final film, but that's not how it works today. I suppose though, that before editing was an available tool, shooting linearly in the order of shots in the envisioned final film was how films were made.
New tools enable new workflows. Simple. On set roles have been changing and will continue to change.
OK ... this is possibly the biggest announcement you could have made to me.
I am continually impressed with what you guys do, and how your company has grown!
I remember lamenting with Ted at a Final Cut event in DC about the low availability of Red One. Times sure are changing!
Yo, mods, somebody ban that Jannard dude, looks like he might have some inside track on what you're all working on...
But seriously, thanks for letting us know everything's going to be upgradeable. It was stated previously that the Scarlets and Epic-S's wouldn't be, and it was something that I personally found a bit off-putting. Am looking forward to the Nov 3rd announcements with renewed interest.
As for the depth-mapping stuff, it reminds me of the comments Jim made once about how (in my own words) it doesn't matter what the competition comes up with if it's just better versions of the same old thing, Team RED are taking things into whole new territories altogether, in ways that are so amazing and full of potential it's scary.
Red aren't just about making better camera's, they're also about moving cinema-making and viewing practices forward into area's that were previously unimaginable. They are being as creative in that as anyone who ends up using their products will be. And it's a pleasure to watch it happen. More power to them.
Apparently it was. Not by me. This is what I am referring to: http://vimeo.com/29028959
There are many very artful shots, and a few that were obviously quite poorly lit. You were making the point that a fancy new camera would let "colorists" do the lighting in post. I was saying you were nuts. Discuss.
OK so R3d/REDCODE on everything.
Is that really big news, mmm
(you tell me),
3d scarlets is that big news , not really.
or R3d licenses , or 3rd party licenses that let us integrate the camera into other systems... [That would be huge]
that would be an industry game changer and would be VERY DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY. Bsically we get to hack some tier or levels within RED platform.
The hints of taking a page out of Apple’s “play book”…
I mean come on guys…
I am not certain that I have the anagram or cipher right…(or at least they way it should be...)
D3 that’s 3rd party development.
D3 on R
DV3 on R
Or the folks that are more savy with proprietary formats what does 11.3.11 mean? Anyone REDUSER?
What ever they have in mind its Staring us right in the face.
This is totally mental.
Cheers,
Eric
Mr. Blackstone your work speaks for itself. Excellent reel, beautiful work.
Real pros don't criticize other people's work like that. Totally unprofessional.
