11311 Peleus .... EPIC SENSOR UPGRADE TO 6K, due the the alignment of planets. Medium format for EPIC owners for a Price, that's my guess for one of the things ... Did I win a prize?
Ha ... you people think too small.
THIS... IS... RED!!!!
What Red is going to announce is a helmet with a remote control.
That remote will have one button.
When you press the button, the system will convert the movie in your head to a finished 40K volumetric rendering with full 4D lightfield, with 11.2 surround, including a full score.
It will be called 'Red Sight" the tag line - "Journey beyond imagination ..."
No more messy camera rigs and film crews.
Best of all its only $60000, and its shipping TODAY. Yes, I realize the announcement is November ... but when you place your order on the 3rd, it will be transmitted back in time, and you will already have received it when the event starts.
In fact ... you may have it now. Go on ... look around.
Oh, they'll also release three versions of their laser projector, including one that beams the image directly into your visual cortex.
As is the practice going forward at Red, you have already received your future orders.
What? Did you really think you were sitting at a computer reading RedUser?
Do you think that's air you're breathing?
wowowowwowooww!!! is all i can say, if Scarlet has this feature, this in itself changes everything. Was a bit disappointed when i finally saw the lytro and it's capabilities (the multiple focus and depth map feature aside)
I have a kidney going spare if RED would like to swap for a Scarlet when they hit the shelves :)
In reality, we must keep in mind what we "know". If Scarlet comes to market sub $10k (for a standard shooting setup) there's nothing that even comes close to offering the features that have been previously discussed via Red Ted's teasers and discussion here on RedUser. It's fun to speculate on specifications, but it's also exciting to look at what is already reality.
If there is a S35 version/option/brain (or even larger) that's just extra icing on the cake. Sony, Canon, JVC, and Panasonic should be extremely concerned either way. Look at the technology Red has focused on developing. High resolution, high speed, and high dynamic range. Nobody has yet to come close at any of the current lineup's price points. Those "3 H's" are what really separate Red from the pack. Aside from that, the raw technology, compact form factor and modular design. All pluses from a company paying attention to the shooter's desires, lusts, and wants.
Beyond Scarlet, if the new Red Projector presents an affordable way for theaters to upgrade their projectors up to 4k, Red will have potentially solved one of the major issues facing theater owners. This is nothing short of a revolutionary concept.
Red is clearly thinking bigger. Developing products utilizing state of the art technology and not necessarily going the safe route.
They are focusing on changing the way motion pictures and created, captured, and viewed. That vision is what excites me the most.
That, plus you can also extract the exact camera position and lens info from the depth data - no more 3D tracking (which is a huge improvement). And if your shot has enough parallax (camera moves), or especially if you shoot multiple angles that show what's behind your foreground items in the other cameras, you should even be able to create a 3D version of the scene with a possibility to reprogram camera motion (think of Blade Runner, manipulating image to see behind objects).
This could be very very big.
