I've got a Quadro 4000 laying around you could use...Mac version
The fastest way will be a TB PCIe expander box with an Atto H680, with a SAS/eSATA fanout cable going to the card reader and drives
But you'll never get more than 12 GB's a minute, because that's...
That's if the sound guy named them in a way that's actually useful - and if he even gave them the right name in the first place.
It does take time to sync - might as well take the time to do it...
How do you know they were "fine"? Did you hand-check every one of them, making sure the sticks matched in audio and video? Just because you think the TC numbers "match" doesn't mean the sticks do.
...
Which RAID controller card? Maxx Digital doesn't make their own, they use Atto's correct?
Looks like an R680 in the picture...
$300...?
Up to date on CUDA drivers? Check your CUDA control panel in Sys Prefs
Other than that, it might be because of your older Mac - Westmeres are 64-bit native
2 sets of internal raids right now, which get 350 MB/s each
Usually transcode from the copy of the raws on the Raid
Slow drives? GTX 680 connected to both power supply cables?
2:1 transcode ratio I'm getting varies by camera aspect and compression ratio, and by output codec
Just tested Avid 175 10 bit, it...
Yes
By the way, you'll kill your laptop transcoding with it, it doesn't have enough cooling ability
See that little gear icon in the bottom left corner of the Resolve UI - click on it
Go to the Camera Raw settings - drop down menu for Red in upper right corner
Change Decode Quality to "Half...
Congrats Phil, I was happy to have DIT'd/asst edited on this!
Got it
But Adam is on a 2008 Mac Pro, not a PC
That's if, and only if, you're doing full-res debayers, which, if you're going back to the raws for CC anyway, you don't need.
A Quadro 4000 or a GTX 680, in Resolve, will get you pretty close to...
It can't - the CPU still has to run the OS as well
I get 88%, with 12% to the system, in Resolve, with nothing idle, according to iStat
You're probably right, especially when you consider the workflow Adam's using - ProRes 4444 RLF, which means you're (presumably) not going back to the raws for CC, so full-res debayers might be...
Yeah but that's at half-res debayer. Go into your raw settings in Resolve and switch over to full-res, and you'll drop down to the same fps Adam's getting. Plus he's going out to ProRes 4444.
Also...

Read through this whole thread and not understanding the need to work with 5k raw files...ProRes HQ transcodes are 1/3 of the size/bitrate of the raws, and 422 files are 1/4...meaning no need for...

Just got the 680 installed in my Macpro 5,1 8-core and ran a few tests in Resolve. Compared to the Quadro 4000 I was running, it only transcodes RedRaw a few fps faster, up to 14 or so for 5k HD 6:1,...
About a year old, currently $750 new at Newegg
Cranks out 5k RedRaw at around 12 fps in Resolve on my 5,1 Macpro 8-core at half-res debayer
In Burbank, 310 367 0862
Sold!
