So, so, so long overdue. But so glad they're finally here. CS6 on our system vs. CS5.5 is literally night and day. I'm confused as to why but I'm not questioning it.
That container seemed to be the 'Mary Poppins' of containers!
Caught the slinky ad just now, looked great. Good job, Benckert.
I believe it's more akin to a doctor learning a new hospital layout than it is how to perform the actual surgery.
No hotswapping though afaik?
Curious as to why you think RAID5 for Scratch? Nothing truly important exists on the Scratch other than temp and render previews. If anything performance is better suited there and an...
It's a couple of 2tb drives. Barely an expense in the grand scheme of things.
It is also a terrible idea to partition your scratch disk. It needs to be separate to everything else otherwise you're...
I think it's bad practice to use partitions w/ regards to a scratch disk. Have a drive (or pair in Raid0) as a scratch and nothing else.
Please do upgrade to 10.7.4 and report your findings. I hear Apple have included a few GFX changes in terms of PnP Compatibility and OpenCL? I may be guestimating way above my head.

Appreciate the insight. Still find that there should be no excuse for complete crashes of a program that's going to see a lot of people cutting with native footage. Especially given the fact it was...
Elsie, appreciate the link to those. Do you have any understanding as to why they're so cheap for an apparent large amount of data? I don't quite understand the 'SSD/HDD' hybrid.
This is also another option but these speeds and costs are a little out of my reach so have never really invested much research into the matter;

That's quite the speeds you're looking for. Have you thought about 5x SSD's in RAID0 then? You'll get around 580MB/s with that scenario.
How about the eS PRO in RAID0?

With 10.7.3 it'll run just fine with no flashing, hacking or editing.
Used it very briefly last night with some test footage (1080p 5DII material) and it crashed spectacularly half way through a grade. Wasted around 20 minutes but was a painful enough experience to...
I am impressed at the speed in which Adobe has taken steps to not 'FCPX' their product. Listening to industry feedback and being somewhat transparent about their product is what is creating a very...
Unless you're solely using the cards for crunching R3D, I'd strongly suggest a second Quadro, especially if you're using products that can take advantage of it, such as Premier Pro or Resolve
Apologies, I didn't delve too much further into his post about obtaining a dual-core motherboard. I guess he already answered his performance bottleneck himself!
My observation that his CPU was...
Hi Jon,
It sounds to me like you need more than one physical CPU, that seems to be your bottleneck.
