I don't think there will be any time limit on the upgrade, once you become eligible you can "place an order", once you place your order you will be put in sequence. That's my guess.

I think RED has always focused on quality first. There are enough cameras already if all you are doing is gathering the news or making a music video. RED is all about pushing the envelope.

Nice Camera, but I'm sure we'll see a kickass feature from a Scarlet and just one 25mm RPP. If you have a Scarlet, all you need is a script!
