This is great news. The effect you're talking about is the "rainbow" effect. Most commonly found on early DLP projectors, it's an artifact of showing the red, green and blue components serially (at...

Looks about right to me. If you watch the second clip, count how long a water droplet takes to fall about a foot from the top of its arc. In the video it takes about 3 seconds. In real life a one...
I figure there must be some people thinking of moving over to Red's quick release platform and therefore be willing to sell their ET Hybrid baseplate. PM me if you have one for sale. I'm in Los...
Justin, FYI, I have Epic-X #14 and I don't have a REDMote for it yet. But I do have a REDMote for my Epic-M (one of the earliest ones), so perhaps someone was mixing and matching and that's what Mark...
That wasn't what was posted. The guy posted, in response to someone asking why one would want the quad module: "if you are willing to swap batteries every 20 minutes, you don't need the quad module"....
Thanks. If I get something cool I'll definitely share it. Since it's the same camera as the Epic-M, and there's plenty of that footage around, I didn't feel the need to post some stuff right away.

Heh! No worries on my side either -- and I still love your lens support and handle for my Red 18-85 zoom and haven't begun dismantling it in protest -- yet!
No disrespect intended. Just light-hearted humor in response to light-hearted humor. It does have a place on this board, for both adults and kids.
To any who got rick-rolled (sounds like you...
Hello, Sam's dad here. Thought I'd jump in and explain. Sam really just wanted to rick-roll the guy who said he looked "frightened" in the picture. Note that he didn't take offense at the comment,...

1. Driving from LA to Lake Forest and back on a Friday afternoon is normally contraindicated. But for an Epic-X, well worth it.
2. Definitely *feels* lighter.
3. Surface...
It's happening! Got the email 10 minutes ago. Such great timing and a lovely anniversary present indeed -- four years ago yesterday I drove down to OC for the first Red day and drove home with Red...
Incredibly cool. I wasn't super interested in overcranking on my Red One, and didn't realize that the resolution hit played such a big part in driving that choice. 5k 96fps, coupled with the...
I posted this over in Jim's "Epic-M Owners please post more footage" thread, but I thought I'd put it here as well.
Epic-M, 96fps, Red Pro Prime.

It was a Red Pro Prime, probably the 35mm. As far as aperture, I'm not sure, but likely wide open or close to it given the frame rate.
Here's a clip from a short I shot a couple of weeks ago. Epic-M. 96fps.

Her shoes, the tripod, and Blair's mustache?
Thought I'd chime in here and point out that I've done business with Travis a number of times over the last couple of years. He's a very nice and trustworthy guy.
Got mine today. Love it.
What a thoughtful design. Really looks and feels like it belongs on top of the Epic. And the laser-etching is super-cool.
I'm not certain, but I believe that's the expected behavior of the current version of firmware. I remember a video from NAB where Curt had to switch to wired mode in order to show all the features.
I've seen both in person and went with the Optitek. Liked it quite a bit better. I'm sure both will get the job done, but the Optitek is beefier, and with the optional handle works great and looks...
Perfect.
Yep, a six lens case that holds the 18mm instead of the 300 would work best for me too.
When I get the green screen audio playback error (which is quite often on release build 17), one trick I use is to fast forward for a second or two immediately when I first play the clip. This avoids...
What I've seen done for music videos is to have an iPod with the song and timecode displayed on it. Every take starts with rolling on the iPod with the timecode counting up. That iPod then plays the...
I'd recommend getting a mini HD-SDI to DVI-D converter box. I have the AJA HDP, but the Blackmagic equivalent (HDLink) costs only $400 and should work fine as far as I know. The nice thing about them...
