It sounds like you had the spot meter activated.
If you go into the METERS menu >ANALYSIS meter > you can toggle between
the different analysis scopes. See if it was set to SPOT METER.

That is pretty damn impressive.
I can really see this bridging the gap between so many parts of the production
team and even into post. It's like a hub of sorts that's gets everyone on the same...

While I'm not in the market for this, it is impressive that someone is actually shipping a smart Nikon mount.
