I love my 50/2. I don't know the length between focus and flange unfortunately. The barrel extends as you focus though so it is awkward with a MB sometimes (not what you asked but extra details haha).

I've been traveling with two 160w batteries in my carry on bag all year. Haven't had a problem other then them swabbing them for chemicals. This is in US, multiple cities.

I would assume the design is has a patent on it, although that only goes so far. I feel like that design is different enough that it wouldn't fall under the patent.
