UPDATE: Managed to force the thumbscrew and got it off. There was a small metal sliver inside, likely from a chipped gear in the mechanism. All is well.

Earlier today I was trying to remove the side handle and the thumb screw jammed. After two turns it stopped and won't go any further. I can't get the side handle off as a result.

Any thoughts?
