My problem is that none of the Canons are truely parfocal? I would be happy with a canon if I could trust the Zoom through on it.

It's not the mount thats the problem.. Its the lens.. There are no quality 8x wide to mid canon lenses around. Not for a price you can pay anyways.
And you do not want to record at 4k at all times...
