Link to what this device is, on the RED website:...
Owning a RED helped me at the beginning of things, yes. It differentiated me, and I hadn't done enough high-end work to stand out. But after about a year, it really didn't matter anymore. Last year...

Tim,
I respectfully disagree with a lot of points in your post.
1) "Don't post the problem here, first" and "Avoid coming on here as a last resort"
Seriously? I've been a RED customer since...
Thanks guys. Yeah, you may be right- reloading the firmware may be all RED does, too.
BUT... the idea of getting a camera with a 90 day warranty that doesn't work out of the box, brand new, QA'd...
On reloading the firmware:
If you'd read my posts, you'd have noticed that this is a brand-new, straight-from-RED, according to Jarred "extra QA"'d BT Scarlet.
Now, were this a normal camera...
@Antonio- please do.
You know when you do ALL CAPS WITH EXCLAMATION POINTS IT IS LIKE YOU'RE YELLING AND YELLING AT SOMEONE ISN'T VERY CONSTRUCTIVE, RIGHT!!!!!!!!!
:-)
I did switch out the SSD when trying the black shade hoping it was a bad SSD. It wasn't.
Plus, the corrupt frames are still happening when recording.
Plus it's kicking me an error # now off...
And of course, I've opened a ticket with RED. And done more testing on my own, same problems (corrupt frames and unable to black shade) happening no matter what SSD I use.
An update on my situation: I did contact RED support as our local RED Medic suggested.
I also have been testing here, bad news all-around:
- tried formatting another SSD and using it, still FAIL...
Thanks, guys. Yeah, I KNOW RED'll treat me right, they always do. Just... this is a brand-new, "battle tested" Scarlet that's gone through extensive QC after their shoot. So weird this is happening....
Well, I can say that RED has ALWAYS provided killer customer support to me in the past, so I am sure if my Scarlet's a lemon they'll refund me if I want, or do a swap if I want. I'm not worried about...
Update: have tried black shading twice, using AC power. Both times FAILURE.
Growing dread, here.
Did this issue ever get resolved for you guys?
My brand-new BT Scarlet is doing the same exact thing.
Fuck...
P
Oh fuck... apparently a lot of people are having this problem.
I'm doing a black shade right now, hoping that's it. But... I can't use this camera on a shoot if it's gonna do this.
First, thank you guys. Second... firmware? On a "just-came-from RED on Friday" Scarlet? EEK! Makes me worried these cams are not ready yet, or I got a lemon.
