red drive cables are notoriously unreliable. they are expensive and break easy. very very very likely it is a problem with the cable
the drive can be tested by pluggin it into a computer etc

i convert long image sequences all the time.. that is a pretty normal conversion time for 2k footage.. seems fast for 4k actually..especially given you're using media encoder
bizarrely i used to...
as one of my clients said the other day "premiere is the only windows NLE he knows that will touch red footage" ..i think he's right (i couldn't think of another anyway), so DEB is essential. i wish...
i think you'll find those things were pioneered by raw shooters using DSLRs for their original purpose , taking photo s
i have a small $100 stereo lens, which was great for filming my nephews in cots and prams . recording in 4.5k on the red one, then split the image down the middle..gives you two 2024x2024 images...
im not sure red has ever ticked all those boxes .. red normally fails the first two (but have a subject to change clause so its ok). the third has been 'iffy at times. i think they qualify for number...
for anybody interested in the quality of their XYZ conversions, my advice is this .. XYZ requires "at least" a 48bit RGB input.. 24bit RGB, or 8bit YUV will never convert well to XYZ .. it requires...
well said . a significant proportion of the most advanced , well written, and most thoroughly tested software on the planet is actually free, and made in the open source community..by amateurs

unfortunately, however big the companies are, they still can't get there mits on the 120fps, low persistence screens needed to make VR work in a non-nausiating way. also, the motion tracking...
my experience is: they tend to be expensive to service, if you can find someone who can. the best guys are in st.petersberg. they can be slow to get serviced
holy fucksticks .. let me get this right..
we have technology that can record in 3D? ..woah..my mind hurts .. i need to absorb this
..i think cinema goers are going to love that .. it'll be like...
i do have a reasonable understanding of colour science and math, unlike the author of this article.. which is his personal interpretation/speculation..
these guys are a little more technical, we...
does anyone know what happened to "linear light" also.. can't see it in redcine .. but i see it in adobe .. ?
exactly ..people who have been through 2 previous red upgrades, some people 3, starting from the red one..obviously they aren't interested in keeping up with the latest tech.
now that red are...
red don't have to make a camera for everyone
correct.
BUT THEY JUST NEED TO TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH A LITTLE MORE RESPECT ,
A DIRECT MX->DRAGON UPGRADE WAS NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE?

remember also, there are two basic types of noise to look out for
1) low light induced noise
2) artifacts caused by complex, high contrast imagery ..which may be worsened if type 1 is present at...
you re pushing against an open door ..
however.. arri are technologically behind .. i stand by that statement..and "looks" can be changed in the grade. arri has the advantage, since many notable...
im a computer programmer ;)
the point was .. the stored shutter speed maps don't have to match, they just need to be as close as possible (which is currently what we do, when we don't reshade...
in terms of specs. , arri are behind . dyanmic range, colour.. technologically, arri are behind
in terms of design, arri are ahead though, and the design approach they took was to point out that...
actually .. i don't want an epic body upgrade . if i had the choice between a red one with a dragon sensor at 4k/4.48k (etc), or an epic mx at 5/6/7 or 8k (hyperthetical) , i would have taken the red...
most of my tests were for xq .. so i shall do another test following that advise.. thankyou
well dxolabs.com found the epic to be the most colour sensitive, highest dynamic range camera they'd ever tested..and i think they've tested them all ;)
they reckon it beat the hasselblad medium...
the epic dragon can store about five shadings.. what is the reason it can't switch them over, albeit not instantly, when shutter speeds are changed, automatically if desired by the operator?
or is...
