Interesting point. You may be right.
I don't think anybody will be fooled into thinking these are purpose built cine lenses. I do see a couple of advantages to these bolt-on housings. Aesthetically, they do look more elegant than a...
B&H has them listed for pre-order: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Sigma+18-35mm+f%2F1.8&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=
The AIS lenses have a similar focus throw to the Rokinons. As far as new purchases, it looks like you have the medium an long end covered. You might look into a 20mm F2.8 or 24mm f2 AIS lenses.
Yes. On my OConnor CFF1 with the O-Focus Hard Stop Handwheel I get almost 400 degrees of rotation using the 35 tooth gear. So, that is plenty of rotation for accurate focus. I get a little over 180...
I have all three of the Rokinon T1.5 cine lenses and just about every focal length of the Nikkor AIS from 20mm - 300mm. The Nikkors have focus gears and 80mm fronts except for the 200 and 300mm. I...
There is some real nastiness going on in the columns on the right at 1:07-1:14 that can't all be from the Vimeo compression.
I don't know where John got his. But, you can get them from here:

I have bough several items from Jerry and have always gotten good products and...
I have the Sigma 20mm 1.8 and it is very sharp. Quite usable wide open. But, it does suffer from the short focus throw typical of most AF lenses.
I bought a MovCam MM1A about a year ago and have been very happy with it. The cost is a bit higher than your ideal price, but it is very solid and will last for years.
There are several options depending on the look you want. If you want a vintage look, either the Contax that Tom mentioned, Leica R, or Nikkor AIS could be good choices. If you want a more modern...
There was some talk a while back, by Jarred I believe, about a user replaceable OLPF with ND built in. Haven't heard anything about that in a while. The Motion Mount may be RED's solution for a...
I have not used that one. But I have used the one that it looks like that one was modeled after with great success. This is the original:...
The Motion Mount also has the advantage of changing your Epic or Scarlet into a global shutter camera. So, it is a lot less expensive than buying a whole new camera.
I tend to shoot 7:1 most of the time, but go to 5:1 for scenes with a lot of trees in the background and 3:1 for SFX shots or green screen. You could probably go 8:1 for most interiors and be fine.
I am really liking what I am seeing. Thanks for posting your findings, Phil.
Congratulations!
Olympus ME-52W works for me.
The Bolt's transmitter is bigger and heavier than the Paralinx, but it has a simpler power cable: Lemo to D-Tap. The Paralinx is much smaller and lighter, but has a funky D-Tap to 12v to 5v...
Back in January of 2007, I told one of my clients that I had put down a deposit on a 4K camera. He thought I was nuts. "4K? That's impossible. That rich guy is wasting his money trying to make a...
The issue only happened when the camera wasn't recording. The files played back just fine. And yes, a frame would hang up every 1-9 seconds constantly.
OK, that is just odd. I had my Paralinx Arrow connected to the HDMI, but didn't have it plugged into the D-Tap since I didn't have the director's monitor set up. I tried plugging it in and...
I did a search, but couldn't find any answers to this issue. Every few seconds, the camera will freeze on a frame for a fraction of a second. Then it will release the frame and record normally for a...
You might have the follow focus drive gear too tight against the lens gear.
The Nikon 17-55 is a great lens. Very sharp. That and the Rokinon 85mm would be a good starter kit.
