Thanks for the report. It's been fixed internally.

We released a 17.4 update last week. Simply run Check for Updates. It's in the Help menu on Windows, and the REDCINE-X PRO Menu on Mac OS.

You likely have REDCINE-X set to auto save RMD files. Every time you change a setting, the RMD is saved. If you don't want this feature, you can turn it off in the preferences.

There is no debayering done to the R3D file. Inside the R3D is the raw Bayer pattern sensor data. Debayering only happens when you view the R3D.

It definitely shows up to the OS as an 8x card slot, but you're not going to get that kind of bandwidth from a Thunderbolt enclosure.

Thunderbolt only operates at 4x. Even though the card is physically in an 8x slot, the maximum throughput via the thunderbolt cable you're going to get is only 4x. Hence the 4x warning in REDCINE-X.
