Yeah my 17-40 lost/gained one stop at each end of the zoom spectrum, the 24-105 does it too (have heard all the Canon stills zooms do it to some degree?).
I sold it for a Tamron...

Does the Tamron lose/gain light as you zoom in/out like the Canon zooms do or does the exposure stay constant?
