Because the F65 offers a wider dynamic range where HDRx is no option.
I own a Red Epic, that's why.
But let's not derail this thread with petty fanboyism. Any suggestion was welcome...

What about color reproduction? Any improvements there?
Have tried the 4k phantom 65 yet? beautiful camera
Very interesting.
How come BMC managed to get a working Scarlet in under a year, while it took Red 4 years to figure out they couldn't deliver on their promise?
Black Swan
Slumdog Millionaire
Avatar (highest grossing movie ever shot on a 2/3" HD camera!)
28 days later
StarWars - Attack of the clones
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Sin City
Cloverfield ...
Scarlet only does 120fps at 1k. Not even 720p
There are better cameras out there. :- )

Oh, I thought most folks around would be smart enough to figure this out for themselves...
Isn't it quite obvious that the lens doesn't change optically? As you're only using a crop of the same lens?
Where am i claiming it's a 300mm lens though? I'm merely stating that the image magnification will be similar to using a 300mm lens. ;- )
Crop Factor
The image produced by the Heerbrugg is ~3 times the size of the Red Epic Sensor, thus only recording the cropped area of the image projected by the lens
True, but the resulting image would be comparable to using a 300mm lens. ;- )
If you're up for a small adventure, i suggest taking a look at the Wild Heerbrugg (Leica) 98mm f1.4 lens. Originally made for aerial reconnaissance cameras, it has an image diameter of roughly 90mm...
If only half of the people bickering on tests like these would spend their time on improving their cinematographic skills.... we might actually start seeing improvements in the heaps of crap being...
One man's death is another man's bread.
That's how free markets work. Adapt or die.
One shouldn't expect much from an 8 year old LCD display in terms of picture quality i suppose. But looking at the video below I'd say it doesn't look that bad. Gonna give it a shot. :- )

What the FS700 does in burst mode is write data to a local RAM module, and stores it onto a CF card/SSD afterwards.
Uncompressed video doesn't require lots of CPU, just lots of bandwith.
Just wondering if anyone has ever used those old 4k IBMs to display Red 4k footage? They usually go for sub 1000$ prices.

Why not use SSDs?
4K won't go mainstream until either the ps4 or the next xbox become available... but even then, most folks will still opt for 1080p simply due to the cost of 4k displays. I predict 2014 (late 2013?)...
NHK developed an 8K camera a few years ago.

In other news: 99.9% of the world's population doesn't give a shit about 4k.
Wasn't the FS700 announced to be 8000$? The actual streetprice will probably be lower though
Sometimes more isn't better. I guess it's one of those American things... and numbers sell?
One of the things that's been irking me about HD (let alone 4k and beyond) is how bad it makes CGI look....
