I don't really mind losing out on 6K, since 25fps@5K is enough to get me through 99% of whatever I shoot. 50fps@5K will get me through 99.5%. And for the rest there's rentals. But I also think that...

Don't really care about the carbon print, but it would be nice to not have to pay tax, duty and shipping for the trip to the U.S.
If the hardware can do 60fps at 5K WS, it should be able to do 50fps at 6K WS (seeing how the Scarlet Dragon's specs scale down from 5K to 4K etc. just like the Epic Dragon's specs do, I don't think...
2014.
Not RED team, but looking at how the framerate scales from 5K WS to 2K WS, I would say the Scarlet-D will max out at 200 fps for 1K WS.
They're not updating your Scarlet-X to an Epic. It's a trade-in. They'll inspect your Scarlet to make sure it's fully functional (so it can be sold on as battle tested) and they'll ship you a new...
It's up, but I'm getting "You currently have no serial numbers eligible for this program."
Cool, my guess was spot on.
From Phil Holland's NAB Journal post:
So it seems no 6K for Scarlet-D.
I haven't actually used HDRx beyond doing some tests, but I wouldn't want to lose it. I can definitely see the use for tracking, stills and timelapse.
Thanks for the awesome roundup for all of us who can't make it to the show.
I don't really agree with you there. With 60fps at 5K the Scarlet-D is good enough to be used as an A cam even on a HFR shoot. In all honesty the Scarlet-D sort of negates the need for an Epic in...
R3D trim is used to trim your RAW files to your wanted length, it doesn't alter the actual image data in any way. So no, you can't use it to downscale your footage.
I stand corrected.
From that exact same page:
While on the page for the S16 cinema camera they say:
The BMD 4K production camera only comes with a DaVinci Lite installation disc. You're not getting a dongle.
Since it doesn't shoot stills it can't really replace my NEX as something small that I can lug around for fun.
And if the sensor is 1920*1080, you're going to end up with an effective resolution...
I would rather use the difference between 5K and 6K speeds from Epic-D's specs for the calculation. Epic-D does 120fps at 5K and 100fps at 6K 2.4:1, or a difference of 1.2x. So I would expect the...
Seeing how the F65 only has enough pixels to be about 5.8k before debayer, it's not that hard to figure out.
I was sort of interested in BMD's 4K camera before I saw the full specs. I mean, first a step down in dynamic range and apparently the RAW is only 3840*2160, so it'll debayer down to about 3K...
I quick calculation using the framerates and resolutions of the Epic as a guide would get you something like 4k@75fps and 3K@100fps. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 6K@24fps.
Edit to add:...
Wow! Unexpected and awesome! A huge thanks for offering this as well!
This I love, thanks!
2.5K at 50fps is at the top of my list. And I can sort of see a use for 1.5K as well.
4.5K WS at 24 would be cool to have as well, if it's possible performance-wise.
Speaking of firmware, are there any updates on the possibility of seeing a 2.5K mode in the future? I know this has been talked about previously, but it would really help out in PAL land to be able...
